A Century of Black History
1926 - 2026
A commemorative decorative pillow honoring one hundred years of Black History, legacy, and continued becoming.
In 1926, historian Carter G. Woodson established Negro History Week to ensure that Black history would be studied, preserved, and honored.
One hundred years later, Black History Month stands as both recognition and responsibility.
This pillow was created as a quiet, lasting tribute—an object that acknowledges the past while holding space for the future.
Not as decoration alone, but as remembrance, reflection, and presence.
Design & Symbolism
Black velvet represents depth, dignity, and endurance.
Gold embroidery reflects excellence, resilience, and value that has always existed.
The compass pendant symbolizes direction, navigation, and the ongoing journey—honoring where we have been while pointing forward.
Zebra print holds historical significance across African cultures, often associated with balance, individuality, and collective strength. No two zebras share the same stripe pattern, symbolizing both uniqueness and unity—many paths moving forward together.
